Hello. Here is a mid-week update on our upcoming events because CC and I need a mid-week update. As co-owners and managers of Two Moore Books, LLC, we meet three times a week to sync up our schedules and workload. We learned this morning that we needed to document events between now and May 14 to keep our single, shared braincell from overloading.
Before I dive in, a quick note about the above logos. One nearly insurmountable mountain that every independent writer must overcome is legitimacy. Self-publishing is slowly gaining a respectable and positive reputation, but it’s not helped by the tons of crap that a few indy writers are slapping between book covers.
CC and I care about our craft and our products, so we joined the Authors Guild and Independent Author Network. This is not a step for every indy writer, but it works for us.
Let’s dive into the calendar.
Saturday, April 26:
-Book signing at One More Chapter. This Saturday, we will be joining other local authors to celebrate the both a grand opening and indie bookstore day at the new One More Chapter in Reno, Nevada. Our table will be there from 10:00am to 1:00pm. We’re at the old Reno post office next to the Pioneer Center (map). Hope to see you there!
-Cover reveal and Presale of Serving Salvation Book Two. I ain’t gonna lie. We got the first paperback proof of SSB2 and it is so pretty. A perfect mate to Book One. Anyway, Book Two will make its public debut and go on presale across the platforms on April 26. We can’t offer presale on our bookstore (sad trombone) because we don’t pay for the website’s advanced features, but the book will be out in the world. There’s news about Book One below.
Wednesday, April 30:
We are going to Boise, Idaho for CIMA. Using their words, the “Conference of Inter-Mountain Archivists (CIMA) is an association of archivists, conservators, historians, and other archives professionals in the Inter-mountain West. Its membership is open to all. The organization provides educational and professional networking opportunities, and supports archives programs in the intermountain region.” This is a great organization for historical fiction authors like CC, who is a member as a retired professional archivist.
Thursday May 1:
This one hurts but is unavoidable. We are raising our prices on our Amazon paperbacks due to rising production costs and shrinking profit margins. This sucks. We will keep the price down on Serving Salvation Book Two for as low as we can as an introductory price.
Good news: For now, single-book paperbacks on our bookstore will stay at $15.
Sunday, May 4:
We will joining our colleagues at the Sierra Arts Literary Community through the Sierra Arts Foundation. Again using their words: “Join the Sierra Arts Literary Community (SALC) on Saturday, May the 4th from 2 pm to 3:30 pm at Sierra Arts Foundation for a gathering strong with the creative Force. Whether you’re a poet, a novelist, a doodler of deep space (illustrator), or just love a good story, this is your rebel base. Come share your work, meet fellow wordsmiths, and connect over all things literary.” We meet here.
Wednesday, May 7:
-The debut of the Nevada Authors Network. The Sierra Arts Foundation and Two Moore Books, LLC is partnering to highlight a Northern Nevada writer every Wednesday. The first podcast on our website will be Tia Flores, SAF program director.
–Serving Salvation Book One, the ebook, goes on sale for 99¢ to support the release of Serving Salvation Book Two. I usually reduce the price of the book on presale, but I’m going to try something different and put the first book in the series on sale. Hopefully, this will lead readers to order Book Two. (As an aside, Book Three is scheduled for release in July.)
Wednesday May 14: Serving Salvation Book Two goes into full release across all platforms and in our bookstore. Yay!
That’s all for now. Please reach out with any questions you may have. Thank you and LYL!
