We don’t have a regular “CC & JT Amateur Hour Podcast” this week because we put on our “Nevada Author Network” hats and welcomed Ken Sutherland to the show. Ken is a Nevada Hall of Famer and literary icon among the Sierra Arts Literary Community. You should go check out our chat with him.

Our loyal fans of our regular podcast need to have their Sunday dose of fun and love, so I thought I’d pull in our most popular episode from the last three years. This should be fun.
(But before I do that, CC’s latest book, Battle Born Bride, is available for pre-sale. Please pre-order it early and often.)

Our most popular episode in the last three years should be no surprise. Jacci Turner is a Northern Nevada author best known for her middle-grade and young adult fiction. A longtime Reno resident, she has written more than a dozen books, including Bending Willow, which was selected to represent Nevada at the National Book Festival in Washington, D.C. Her stories often explore themes of courage, belonging, identity, and hope. A therapist and school counselor, Turner also teaches writing and mentors emerging writers throughout Nevada.

Dr. Dan Morgan is the author of Hiraeth: The Voice of Home, a memoir exploring his unconventional journey through a challenging childhood, academia, roller derby, stand-up comedy, and ultimately the search for a sense of home and belonging. His writing draws on his wide-ranging life experiences and reflects on resilience, identity, and the unexpected paths that shape us.

Another self-plug here: people love our our 99¢ book page. These seven offerings are Book One’s of current of completed series. Such a good bargain! Please buy this all! 😁

Our fourth most popular podcast in the last three years is our chat about authors’ mistakes and bad habits. Every writer has them, which is why we have awesome editors and beta readers. For CC and me, we hold our writing challenges up to the light, and we provide solutions.

Dr. Deborah Derrickson Kossmann is an award-winning essayist, poet, and memoirist whose writing explores family, memory, mental health, and the complexities of human relationships. Her debut memoir, Lost Found Kept, won the inaugural Aurora Polaris Creative Nonfiction Award from Trio House Press and was published in 2025. Her essays and poetry have appeared in The New York Times, Nashville Review, and Psychotherapy Networker, among other publications. Having complicated parents myself, her book hit home.

These and hundreds more episodes of our award winning podcast are out there for the viewing and listening. We’d love to hear your feedback, too. Take care and LYL!
