On the “CC & JT Amateur Hour,” we interview Ron Roman, a retired professor and author, who shares insights into his writing journey, the themes of his book “Of Ashes and Dust,” a Finalist in the Chanticleer International Book Awards. The discussion explores the post-apocalyptic genre, character development, and the unique perspectives of those living outside their home country.

Post-apocalyptic narratives like those in Ron’s book often explore the fragility of civilization and the resilience of the human spirit. He emphasizes that the current global climate, marked by political tensions and environmental crises, makes these stories particularly relevant today. He notes, “We are at the edge, living in a dangerous era. The proliferation of nuclear weapons and the digital landscape keep us aware of potential chaos.”

Ron also reflects on the writing process, the importance of perseverance in publishing, and the role of veterans in society. The episode concludes with Ron reading an excerpt from his book and discussing his future projects.

  1. Thanks for interviewing Ron Roman. I enjoyed hearing his views on writing and his personal experiences that helped him curate his creativity.

  2. I would also like to thank you for interviewing Ron Roman. He is a very interesting man to listen to, and speak with in-person. When he speaks, you immediately understand that he knows his subject matter and has a varied understanding of his topics. If he speculates, he lets you know up front so you can form you own opinions to the subject matter and share them. Ron being so well read, sometimes it becomes difficult for me to keep up. I’m glad he is getting the chance to put his words on paper to share.
