Welcome to another fabulous episode of the “CC&JT Amateur Hour” where “production values go to die,” and that theme was front and center for today’s podcast as we were all over the map. Let’s get down to it.
Please consider voting for us as “America’s Favorite Couple,” and maybe donate a little pocket change for the two worthy charities connected to this contest. We’ve gotten quite a bit of local exposure from this contest and we hope to keep that going.
Cassidy successfully launched her latest book “Haunt Season,” the sequel to “Passion Restored,” though there have been bumps in the road. Long story short: Amazon. We talk about those challenges, but more importantly, we encourage you to check out both of those books.
My next book, “Defying Salvation,” will be released on my birthday, July 24, and we’re having a book release party at Bub’s Bookstore in Carson City on that day at 5:30pm. Stop on by. More details to come. (Also: Hi, Teri!)
I had the priviledge of reading “A Sheriff in Nevada” to the residents of Atria Summit Ridge in Reno, Nevada, and answering their excellent questions about our books and writing in general. We encourage writers and everyone to reach out to these communities. Your presence is a gift, trust me.
We participated in Hollow and Quill‘s Author Day where we got to meet many of our fellow local authors. They have a really sweet setup for our reading community.
We spent some time in today’s podcast about the economic reality of setting up a booth and doing book signings. They’re always fun and a bit of an adventure (hello, SAF Bookfest), and the best part is meeting with fans and folks interested in reading our books. That “economic reality” part is we rarely break even in the pocketbook after booth fees, travel, printing the books, food, and buying books off our fellow writers at these events. But we also rarely regret going because we have fun, and it is always a joy to meet fans and readers.
More appearances:
– July 18: We will be back at the Reno Public Market.
– July 19: CC will be reading to the residents at Atria Summit Ridge.
– August 25: CC will be doing an author talk at the Churchill County Library.
– September 19: We will be at Reno Pagan Pride Project at Idlewild Park.
– October: many events. More information as we get closer.
Speaking of fans, we spend a minute or two talking about one of the best gifts we’ve ever received from a fan. Good morning, Jennifer!
We tried to wrap things up talking about libraries. Please reach out to your local library and request that they carry our books. You can read our books for free through Hoopla or Libby (Overdrive), but the libraries need to know you’re interested. And we love Free Little Libraries! I did a tour of Carson City libraries and dropped of “Hope Knocks Twice.” If you’re in Carson City, grab your copy.
A reminder: If you are adverse to big box websites (*cough* Amazon), we have a handy little online bookstore of our own. We earn the largest percent of profits from this store, so please consider it. If you’re in the Carson City-Reno-Douglas-Dayton area, we will refund the shipping fees and meet you in the public location of your choosing. If you are outside that area, we will refund you the difference on the shipping fees once we get a final number.
Before we let you click on the below video and/or Spotify link, we are taking a two-month break from doing interviews with our fellow writers. We’ll be back later this year.
That’s all for now. Take care of you. LYL!
